Lesser-Known Ladies: A Very Arresting Subject

 As I continue to press onward, getting more artwork done, I decided to swing back to my "Lesser-Known Ladies" series to yet another obscure female from the DC Animated Universe.  This time, I decided to go with the head of the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit, Maggie Sawyer from Superman: TAS.

You notice how some of these characters are just doomed from the start?  When I did my earlier pic of Summer Gleeson from Batman: TAS, I bemoaned how she was such a prominent supporting character and that her abrupt departure from the series was rather baffling (though I remain suspicious that the addition of Lois Lane to the DCAU probably had a lot to do with it).  By contrast, Maggie, as a character, was always living on borrowed time.  The fact that she was in SUPERMAN: The Animated Series, pretty much says it all.  I mean, leave us not kid ourselves...boots-on-the-ground, street-level, HUMAN crime was NOT going to be the order of the day, here.  And, try as they might to back Superman up, the SCU almost always found themselves in over their heads, which was never a good position to be in from the start.  But when Darkseid began hijacking the overarching narrative and Dan Turpin was killed, the writing was pretty much on the wall that the SCU was going to be an afterthought, going forward.

Which brings us to the image at hand.  While this was not intended to be put out as any Fourth of July commemoration, as I do not live in the United States (thank God, but that's another conversation), this idea of Maggie volunteering to pose nude for a fundraising pinup calendar had actually been floating around in my head for quite some time, so this seemed like as good a time as any to pull the trigger on it.  All,-in-all, I'm quite pleased with the how everything turned out.  It looks pretty much how I wanted it to and I hope everyone else likes it just as much.  As always comments are appreciated.
